Bit computer determines how much data can be processed, the operating system Windows XP, 32-bit and 64-bit is the most frequently used. The higher the count of bits used, the faster the computer can process data. It is also important to know whether the computer uses 32-bit system or 64-bit, so that when you install programs, applications and drivers, then you will feel sure that what you installed is compatible with your Windows version.

Using System Properties

• Click “Start” Windows and click “Run” and the command box will appear. Type “sysdm.cpl” (without the quotes) and press Enter to appear the System Properties dialog box.
• Click the “General” tab. You’ll see information about your operating system. If you have a computer that is running in 64-bit system, then you will see the words “Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version” under “System”. If the computer running in 32-bit system, then you will only see the “Windows XP” (home or professional) under the “System”.
• Close the dialog box “System Properties”.
Using the System Information window

• Click “Start” Windows, click “Run” to launch the command box.
• Type “winmsd.exe” (without the quotes) and press Enter to get a window System Information
• Click on “System Summary” in the navigation bar and lokasikan “Processor” under “Item” in detail.
• If the value begins with an x86 processor, your computer is running 32-bit version If the value begins with ia64 processor or AMD64, your computer is running on the system of Windows 64-bit.
• Close the System Information window.
