Trick to Change the Flashdisk Icon and CD Icon

If you feel bored with the icon when entering Removable Drives USB or flash, or CD on a Windows system, you can change it easily. Following tricks using the solution in short Autorun:

  • First, you must have a icon that will be selected, with a standard size 34 pixels square.
  • Open the Notepad application in Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
  • Type in “[autorun]” (without quotation marks) in the first line of Notepad
  • Name the drive in the second line with the drive label = name
  • Icon specified in the third line with ICON = namafileiconAnda.ico
  • If you want to be the USB name “My USB Drive” icon with the name “myusbdrive.ico”, then you can write:

[Autorun]
label = My USB Drive
ICON = myusbdrive.ico
Click File -> Save As.
Change the file type “All” and save the Notepad with the name “AUTORUN.inf”

Tips:

  • To name Notepad, Autorun letter must be capitalized, as if not only function as a file. Txt ordinary and can not work.
  • Tips also can apply to change the internal hard disk icon, a CD-ROM, and other drivers that support Autorun
  • This trick does not apply to the floppy drive or floppy disk does not have the Autorun feature
  • This trick will not work if the Autorun feature is disabled
  • You must remove the removable driver, and connect back to the port to see the changes.
  • If the file icon and the view AUTORUN.inf you, then you can hide it with a right click, Properties, and check the box “Hidden”.
  • Make sure that the selected icon has been saved in the same drive that is the place where the file is Autorun.
