Miscellaneous Printer Type

Printer is a hardware device that print text or graphics on paper and other media that allows the print. Currently, there are many different printers.
Based technology used, the printer can be classified as follows:
- Daisy-wheel: Similar to the typewriter used the plastic or metal (such as a hammer), which is the printing of each letter will print such a letter with a ribbon. The only type of printer can not print the letters and graphics.
- Dot-matrix: this printer to print characters to emphasize the pin on the ribbon ink. Each pin yield point, and combinations of dots form the characters or this illustration.
- Ink-jet: printer ink shed on this sheet of paper. This type of printer can produce text and graphics with high quality.
- Laser: This printer uses the same technology with a photocopy machine. This printer can produce text and graphics with a very high quality.
- LCD & LED: This printer is similar to the laser printer, but uses liquid crystals (liquid crystals) or dioda which emit rays (light-emitting diodes).
- Line printer: printer consists chain characters or pins that print an entire line at a time. This printer is very fast but with a lower quality.
- Thermal printer: this printer using a heated pin to press the paper with heat sensitive. The printer is widely used in calculators and fax machines.
The printer can also be classified based on the following characteristics:
- Quality prints or print the output generated by the printer.
- Print speed measured with characters per second, or pages per minute.
- Impact or non-impact related to the printer system working. Printer technology with a daisy-wheel, dot-matrix and line printers are impact printers, and printers with the technology of laser and ink-jet printer is a non-impact. Second important difference is this type of printer on sound. Impact printer more boisterous than the non-impact printer.
- Ability associated with the printed text and graphics. Some printers can only print text and the other can print text and graphics.
- Font or letter type that can be printed. For example, dot-matrix printers can print only a few fonts. Conversely, laser printers and ink-jet printers capable of printing font that is almost unlimited.
