About PC Card
PC Card is a card that can be connected to portable computers (and some desktop models) to add RAM, modem, network adapter, hard disk, or other tools to open the box without wrapping physical computer. Card is inserted in the place that has been available. PC Card is a trade name PCMCIA Card.
There are several types of PC Cards. Type I PC Card with 3.3 mm thick is the format used to add RAM. Type II PC Card with 5.0 mm thick is used to add a regular modem and LAN adapter. Type Type III PC Card with a 10.5 mm thick regular use to add a hard disk.
All PC Card has two layers of the interface instructions: card services and socket services. Card service managing system resources needed by the PC Card and determine the irq and address of the memory on the computer. Socket service to communicate directly with the chip PCMCIA control and act as a service to the card. Socket service can be part or the BIOS can be set with special software.
